FCP 4 Audio question

I used FCP 3 for at least 2 years and noticed a obstacle using FCP 4: how do you use the pen feature (in the lower right hand corner) to say, have a slight fade in and out of a piece of audio. I tried using the pen feature and it didn't allow me to change the audio db. Any ideas?

Re: FCP 4 Audio question

You need to turn on the 'rubberbands.' There's a toggle button on the bottom leftish of the timeline window. Click the one that kind-of looks like the audio lines (not wave forms) with keyframe markers on it... mine is kind of a greenish line.

Then use your pen tool.

Good luck,

Re: FCP 4 Audio question

Thanks for your help, Capt.

One more question:
I am using a DVX100 and the plugin to help the audio sync issue. What disrupts sync mostly, would you say? I've heard of people correcting the sync issue and then adding a music track or a separate audio track (even for an L cut) and having the sync be countered back. Any tips?

Re: FCP 4 Audio question

You need to apply the sync fix to your clips after you capture them. Select and then go to Tools > Audio Sync or something similar.
Once that's done for a clip it shouldn't be slipping back.
