Fcp 4.5 + Hvx200?

Hey all,

I currently have FCP 4.5 and before I purchase a HVX200 I wanted to know if I will be able to edit the footage? Im confused a little on whether or not the .mxf files are quicktime? Would I have to upgrade to at least FCP 5? thanks in advance.
 
Nope, I think P2 support came in under 5.0.x somewhere in there. But with v4.5, you are definitely in trouble to ingest. Go ahead and upgrade to the latest.
 
FCP 5.0.4 to be precise...and QT 7.1.3. But note that upgrade is no longer available, unless you find it on e-bay.

FCP 6 is what Apple is selling now.
 
FCP4.5 can be used with the HVX to do live firewire capture; basically you would have to treat the cam just like you would any DV camera, capturing live playback from firewire.

FCP5.0 added standard-def P2 support.

5.0.4 added high-def P2 support.

5.1.4 fixed it so that it all works right.
