FCP 4.5 -> FireWire -> S-video -> monitor

Hi Folks

I'm not getting video out to my monitor, by going from FCP 4.5 to firewire to my DVX100A to S-video to my monitor. (I know I should be using a deck for this...). No problem with video directly from camera thru S-video showing up on monitor.

In FCP 4.5 under AV Settings Preferences, AV Devices Tab, video playback output is set to Apple FireWire DVCPro NTSC. DVX100A is in VTR mode and powered up.

Audio is not going out thru the camera, if that makes a difference.

Is there some setting in the camera menus to be changed? What am I missing here?

I'm learning a lot lurking on this forum. Thanks to all of you for that.

Re: FCP 4.5 -> FireWire -> S-video -> mon

i found this post as i experienced the same problem with fcp 4.5. what i found was, that it does work on fcp3 -- same settings on both, but fcp 4.5 won't send through firewire to camera, even if i push rec/pause in camera. weird thing..
is it possible that they disabled this function on the upgrade to 4.5 ?

anyway, to work around this problem, simply use fcp3 , or let me know if you managed to solve it on fcp 4.5

thanks

2 Simple questions, but...

Why use DVCpro NTSC as your fw setting?  Try the normal DV setting.

also,

Have you checked View - External - All Frames?  Should be All Frames, might be set to OFF.

Good luck,

CaptM

ps - I have no problem with 4.5 and the dvx. I just tried to recreate your problem... DVCPro works fine for me too... NOT DVCPro50 though.

Again, check the view external video thingie.

I finally figured it out here too. The key was view> external video> all frames.
