FCP 4.5 and IDVD

okay so I'm trying to burn a DVD on IDVD cause that's all I got right now and the only way I can do it is to output my sequence from FCP to tape then bring it back into IMOVIE, then from there bring it into IDVD. I made a quicktime file from FCP but it's all pixelated...the FCP sequence is in 23.98 fps. How can I just save it as a "CLEAN" quicktime file? thanks

You can try to export it into compressor as a 10 bit uncompressed file if you have compressor, or you can try and export using quick time conversion as a mpeg 2 file set the bit rate up to about 7 and do a 2 pass vbr then import that into Idvd and see what happens.

What do you think the advantage is to use *10 bit umcompressed file* if the video
is only 8 bit, which is DV standard format?

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you can import an MPEG2 file
onto iDVD, can you? At least I couldn't about a year ago when I used it.

I'd suggest you to just use *Quick Time Movie* option that you can find on top
of the Export option list. That should give you the proper quality for use with
iDVD.

When working Quick Time Movie Export, choose DV NTSC 48 23.98 on *Setting,*
choose Include Audio Video on *Include* unless you want only one of these,
skip markers option unless you are planning on using any markers, and CLICK
on *Make Movie Self-Contained.* This is supposed to give you the same quality
video as what you captured onto your computer.

Then, just drag the Quick Time File that you created into iDVD. Hope this helps.
