FCP 3 and 24pa

Hi all,

First sorry if this is repetition of an earlier thread, but I couldn't find one in my searches. I shot a short doc in 24pa on the dvx100 which has been editted on FCP 3 in a 29.97 timeline.

My question is can the pulldown now be removed from this editted footage? By the same token, what would happen if you opened up this timeline in a later version of FCP that supports 24pa?

Thanks for the suggestions, I haven't seen much on this issue of dealing with 24pa footage once it has been editted on a 29.97 timeline.

You need to remove the pulldown BEFORE editing it. Once it's been edited you may have cuts on split frames and the system may not be able to figure out the cadence on a clip.
24pa SHOULD have it's pulldown removed and be edited in a 23.98 timeline.
24p (F5) can be captured and edited at 29.97.

If you open in a new FCP it's still 29.97.
FCP 3 options- shoot 24p (not 24pa) and edit 29.97
Or upgrade
or get DV FilmMaker and remove the advanced pulldown.

To convert what you have get FCP 4 minimum and create 23.98 timeline.
Select orginal clisp and do a pulldown removal. Drag from 29.97 sequence to 23.98 sequence
