FCH and psd's trouble

whenever i open a psd in fcp lately it won't let me edit by layer.
any ideas on what may be happening?

i'm running fcp 5 hd.
 
Import you PDS file, double click it either in the Browser window or in the Timeline window. It will open as it's own Sequence in it's own Timeline tab.

Layered PS files are acctually imported as a Sequence into FCP to maintaine all the layers.

BTW, FCP-HD is version 4.x, FCP-5 is version 5.x, there is not such thing as FCP 5 HD.

yeah that part is not happening. it just opens a still.
 
If you import a PhotoShop file that has not been flattened and has all it's layers in the native PS format, it will show up like that.

Contact me off-line and send me a copy of the file. Make sure it is a PSD and JPEG or TiFF, not a GIF. It's pretty straight forward and should work.
