FCE4 Color Correction - White Balance

I just received some old Super 8 footage I had converted to mini-DV standard def tape. I captured the footage to FCE4. It looks good except for a slight lavender hue probably due to age of the film. Is there an easy way to change the hue -- I know there is a color corrector filter and have fooled around with it a bit. But would I be better off trying to white balance? How would I do that?

Any input appreciated. I've tried several online tutorials and I've tried trial-and-error. But maybe there is a simpler way to do it...?

Are you using just the "color corrector" filter?

You should be using the "3-way color corrector". Apply that filter, open it and you'll see 3 color wheels. On the lower left hand side of the "whites" wheel is a small eyedropper. Click on that, move over to you're canvas (with the specific clip opened that you're trying to correct), and find and click on something that SHOULD be pure white. That should do it... if it's not pure white, do it by hand in the "whites" wheel...
