Hi all,
A friend of mine that edits for a living is going to be helping me cut a fundraising trailer. We have a bunch of footage to work with and he suggested I capture everything and then deliver it to him on a FW HD. He has FCP at work and suggested we could trade EDLs to look at each other's work. This make sense, but where I'm stumped is that he wanted me to capture and work in a lower res format than straight DV to both save space (we have about 25 DV tapes) and so that FC would be "faster".
For the life of me I don't see a way to work in anything but native DV in FCE-HD.
Is this correct? Can I use some external compression software and then import into FCE-HD, and if so, what should I use?
I'm not at all clear on the FCP/FCE differences, I thought that mainly there were less effects and whatnot (which we really don't need at this point, just cuts only)....
Any input would be appreciated.
