FCC says no 700 mhz after 06/12/10

Proactive would have been about four years ago when the 700MHz spectrum reallocation was first going through the US House.

Reminders never hurt anybody.
Anyone considering or just now getting into wireless might actually appreciate it.

Not to mention the people (I presume there are more than a few :) ) who have been desperately hoping that this wouldn't happen and they wouldn't have to replace their old gear.

Although many people, including me, have been aware of the 700mhz issue for a couple years now, I believe the link I posted is quite recent news of the FCC definitively stating the use of such devices will not be permitted after that date. Up until recently, all the language I've seen from many manufacturers, as well as the FCC, has been to discourage the use of 700mhz based equipment, leaving a window for MANY people to continue using it as long as they were able.

I believe that for many people this news is going to be quite important because it will be the difference between "should" replace their wireless and "have to" replace their wireless.

if it's between 698mhz and 806 mhz then it will be effected, and that includes that "C" band from Sennheiser.

And yes, what Sennheiser calls the "C" band is the only one of theirs affected. A & B are not (nor is the new G band, but that wasn't available during the G2 days).

I believe the 'D' band is also at least partly in the 700MHz, though I don't think those were sold in North America.

I'm a little surprised with how much Lectro gear I still see on ebay in the 700s w/ a high starting bid.

I know I would pick up any 400 series Lectro units if they were dirt cheap & if I can still get a block change done. But if anyone is purchasing those units, they might need more wake up calls like this.

I suspect most of those systems are going to other countries where the air is still free.
