FC HD 24P Setup

Hi Folks,

I've captured some footage shot in 24P (not advanced) with a capture setting of 23.98 and a sequence setting of 29.97. This seems to not be right as I'm getting some strobing.

Can anyone help me make sure I have the right settings? Should it be reversed, where the capture setting is 29.97 and the sequence is at 23.98?

If you shot it at 24P (not advanced), you'll need to capture AND edit in a 29.97 timeline. It will still look 24p, just have the pulldown applied so it's 29.97. You should only remove the pulldown and edit a true 24P clip when you shoot in 24pA.

I do believe you can use CinemaTools to do a reverse Telecine on footage that has a 2:3 pulldown (ie not 24p Advanced..).

check it out and see if thats what you want.. otherwise you can only edited on a 29.97FPS timeline since the pulldown remains in the footage.

Thanks for the help. One more note perhaps worth clarifying...Why does the easy setup in FC HD automatically create a 23.98 sequence for the 24p (not advanced) option?
