Fazer or Hazer

Hello,

I rented a Hazer a few times (for making the light visible and even creating some fill and diffusing, but would like to buy something for myself. I know fazers make a thicker fog then hazers, but hazers are way more expensive. If I use a waterbased fuel for a fazer, would it also be acceptable(never used a fazer before)? I do not want to see fat smoke like from a smoke machine but a rather subtle effect.

The industry standard is the Reel Efx DF-50, for a nice atmospheric haze. Not familiar with fazers myself.
