hello.
i have one (or more) of just about every shockmount out there...
i started with the at8415 like most of you, i was really in love with the sabra som for a while but the latest one is amazing.
normally i am NOT a big fan of single use tools...doing sound requires a whole assortment of tools and i generally hate to carry anything around with me that doesn't do double duty...
but the new cinela shockmount for the cmit5u is great!
it not only fits the cmit5u but it also fits the cs3e and most importantly it fits the cmc6/mk41/cut1!
when the cinela first came out i was very interested but their first cmc6/mk41 version specifically did not support the cut1 filter and i had bought a cut1 filter not long before that and once you have a cut1 filter i doubt you would want to go back to not having one...
although changing the mic in/out isn't super fast/easy the quality of sound or the lack of sound inherent to the shockmount or the self-noise if you will, is virtually non-existent.
any noise it does make is reportedly below 50hz so the 80-240 high pass filter on my sd-442 will take care of that.
the mic sits in it nice and tight and there is virtually no vibrations no matter what boom move is required.
i may actually buy a second one to use on my short shotguns so i can keep the schoeps cmc6/mk41/cut1 in the cinela and not have to take it in/out.
