While I know commercials aren't films per say, I find good TV commercials to be inspiring for film making. To be able to grab a viewer, create interest/sympathy with them, and deliver a compelling story in 30 seconds takes mastery all around, and very few do it well. What commercials out there really work for you, on all levels? Good stories, style, the whole package. I don't drink anymore, but oddly my two choices are both beer commercials.
For me, this works on so many levels. The get that old style and look just perfect. The girl is sweet, the story is a play on the nice guys always finish last theme, and the twist is just perfect.
While I like the Stella ad better, this one is still good. The music really makes it. Again, great styling, universal theme, and this time with a unique point of view.
