For event videography I realize I didn't need a shoulder rig or my Flycam nano, but wanted something similar to the Zacuto Striker. Saw what abbac2 did but didn't have my own tool shop stuff to work with. Ordered some parts off of thorlabs.com and BHPhoto and put them together to get this.

I'm actually not entirely happy with it just yet. The Manfrotto gunstock needs some permanent glue to stop shifting (need something rigid). But it is nice.

I actually like using just the gunstock and the pistol grip together at the moment (as suggested by plenty of dvxusers). It's actually robust enough to carry around my GH1, stock lens, with rail and follow focus.
After I use permanent glue/cement on the gunstock I'll let you know how it works with my bootleg Zacuto striker rig. But at the moment, like I said, I would suggest the latter setup I have. Actually works great.
P.S. for the diy Zacuto striker rig using thorlab rods (which are 1/2 inch btw), you need a thread adapter to change the screw to 1/4 inch. It's actually not 3/8 either, its a weird 8/32 (which is a denominator of 1/4 but actually doesn't work, weird). Thorlabs sells it as well.
