Fastest Powerbook Storage Options...

Just wondering what the fastest and most reliable (i.e., redundant) options are for connecting storage to a G4 powerbook. Also, has anyone read all the bad comments regarding Lacie drive reliability on the apple store site? Wonder if the G-Tech drives are any better.
 
I have 3 lacie drives. A single layer dvd burner, a DL burner, and a 250gb harddrive. I have had absolutely no trouble with any of them as far as reliability and all have been used excessively. The harddrive has 3 connection options, firewire, usb 2.0, and firewire 800. They're also modular, so as I get into HD I'll be buying more. In the past I've used both Glyph and Lacie drives, and Lacie have far surpassed the glyph in every single aspect.
