Hey,
looking for some advice about fast external storage. How do you do it with iMacs or laptops? I have currently custom build PC with lots of hdds and ssds in but I will be switching to only laptop solution with some fast reliable external storage this year.
I was looking into g-tech shuttle xl. They say "up to 2000MB/s", I suppose that is the speed of connectivity not hdds, right? I am little bit confused about speeds and raids. If I want to have fast and redundancy at the same time, do I have to have ssds in raid, e.g. raid 6?
I was also checking some Synology solution with 5xxTB hdds, it should be good for backup but not suitable for editing, right?
I am working with 4K50p prores files from Shogun mostly. But if things go well, there will be update for my camera gear as well this year, C200 or Ursa Mini Pro for raw, so the hdd solution should be little bit future proof.
Many thanks for advice!
