"Faking" motion between 2 still images?

You know that effect where you see a photo of a person, and then a second photo is used, but it looks like the person actually crossed the room. So somehow an effect has interpolated blurred images bewteen the two stills, thereby faking a moving image (a clearer beginning, blurry middle, and clearer last image). How is this done? I tried simply applying a timeward between two images and slowing it down to 10% but it doesn't really do anything.

Ah, yes. I'll find one. I've seen it used a lot. But I'll find one and post it.

(Dang, and I just saw it a day or two ago and should have remembered the clip. Might take me a day to find where I saw it recently.)

Here is a quick way to achieve this...
Put the images side by side and link them. Then keyframe the position from one image to the next...turn on motion blur for the layers and tweak the keyframe distances until you mask the seam between the two images. Also, easy ease yopur keyframes for a smoother efect. You could also add a blur filter or forced motion blur to exaggerate the blurring further if need be...

This sounds exactly like what I'm trying to do Dingles. But by "linking" them, do you mean parenting one to the other? Not sure what you mean by putting them side-by-side either.

Ah, I figured out that this may be much simpler than I imagined. As in MUCH simpler.

I believe the way I've usually seen it accomplished is simply laying one image over another, and then using opacity to transition between them. It gives the crude illusion of motion.

Crude sample below. (Yes, painfully obvious now).
