Fake Tattoo for Film

Hey everyone!

For an upcoming short, I need to have one of the characters have a rather large tattoo along his neck. Well, we obviously don't want to get a real tattoo so I was wondering (to all the special effects gurus out there) how one might go about accomplishing this?

I want it to be able to come off very easily once we are done shooting (don't want to make the actor scrub his neck for an hour).

So, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

If the tattoo is black, you might consider having a rubber stamp made. I don't remember if I read about it or if it was on the commentary, but this is the method used in the Boondock Saints. You might also look into temporary tattoo paper for inkjet printers. I know this product exists but have not tried it myself.
 
stencils and airbrush makeup work well too. alot of highend salons do this kind of thing or know someone who does. they have a tutorial on how to do it on the BROKEN dvd.

How much time would be spent doing so? If they cost 10 bucks an hour and they think about this for 2 hours, you've spent 20 dollars for R&D. That just doesn't make sense. Tinsley is both the least expensive and most professional solution at the same time.

Hi Guys,

I work at Temptu a sfx Makeup company that specializes in making Temporary tattoos that can last up to a week!

We are featured in Eastern Promises, and Charlie Kaufmans next film Synecdoche, the transfers are reasonably cheap and take about a minute to apply.

The Tinsleys are water slide tattoos so they leave a clear residue that makes it look like a fake, our tattoos are Alcohol activated, so there is absolutely no indications that its a fake, we also use a combination of black, blue, and green in the ink to give it a realistic tattoo look unlike those defined black tattoos.
