Fake Gasoline Smell?

I have a friend that is directing the play "Wait Until Dark". I'm helping out with
some SFX and Sound Design.

He commented that for the final scene which is a black out. He would like to have
the smell of gasoline permeate the air. Obviously, for safety reasons he can't use
the real deal. DOH!

So, anyone know of a product or a prop place that would suffice for something
like this?

I've heard that some deodorants smell sort of like gasoline. Although I don't know specifically which ones.

Maybe a car air-freshener? They seem to come in just about every conceivable scent, now...
 
You don't want to use anything toxic or inflammable. Which rules out most everything that 'really' smells the part.
 
Disney is great at that stuff, and use it in several attractions. The worst one being Lilo and Stitch, Stitch's Great Escape. When it burps in your face, that is enough to make you want to gag.
