I just finished a theatrical production where we needed to throw an egg into the audience every show. We tried all sorts. The solution was a real egg, contents blow out with top and bottom hole. Flushed through with water, then a small amount left in for weight, and the top and bottom sealed with clear silicone. Easily thrown and smashes nicely with no issues.
