Facebook pays 2 billion for Oculus

A programmer friend of mine has a dev kit. As a 3d photographer/cinematographer, it's actually more exciting to me than the 4k "revolution". Is it worth 2Bn? no. But it does give a glimpse of the future of interactive storytelling.

I can't really say until I see it with my own eyes and experience it. Just looking at someone wearing it makes me go, meh. But maybe it's super awesome once you see it.

In short, yes. It will be a bigger thing ultimately than smart phones tech in our society. The Oculus is really a huge leap into the Virtual Reality realm. Remember that term from the 90's? VR will become a huge new medium to produce in.

I have a friend who has a developer set and tested it with people who had never tried it. The experience was SUPER realistic they reported.

I've tried the first developer kit and it's super impressive even though the resolution was bad. It will really change a lot of things and I can't wait for it to be an actual consumer version. For games it will be mindblowing.
