Face Shot Camera Rig

OK guys I have no idea what this is called so maybe you guys can shed some light. So I can either rent one or make one. But I am looking for a camera rig. I have seen one that mounts to the shoulders of the talent and puts the camera out in front of their face or below or above. It gives you that close up face POV shot and you get the movement of the talent. Kind of gives you that look, you know what I mean? Anyway I am doing a short about stealing a movie print from a movie theater and I want the main robbers to have that shot while they are running around. Think fast like Guy Richie

I wish i remembered what it's called. I remember it was mentioned in directors comentary on "Requiem for a Dream" rent the DVD. I loved the footage they've done with it.
Good Luck

The ones I've seen were just car-rig parts the gaffer cobbled together and strapped to the actor. They don't look very difficult to make.

Is there something off-the-shelf that does this?

this site has so additional rigs. between this one and doggicam you can see some really neat rigs and get ideas on how to make your own.

i would consider starting with one of those old metal frame backpacks and build a mount off of that.

or just get a piece of plywood, bolt on something that has the standard grip gear stud and strap the plywood onto the talent like a backpack or baby carrier.

your best starting point is something like http://store.yahoo.com/cinemasupplies/mat58babstan.html

they call it a 5/8 spud

with that and some matching grip heads you can attach to almost anything.

its called a "snorricam". made famous by films like "Pi" ...just google it. im sure youl find something for instructions to buy or build one. pookies link has a nice mount which does the same thing + more.

did anyone find a picture of it??

i googled and there are a bunch of references but i didn't find a picture.

myself i'm just in love with the stuff from filmtools. i mean most of it is made by matthew studio equipment, but filmtools.com seems to be the best place to see it laid out with accessories etc.

i'm just looking for pictures to work on so i can show off the freaky ways to do stuff with just a handful of the erector set pieces i have accumulated between my 3 point car mount and the other odds and ends i've pieced together.

btw, www.crewpix.com will give you some great shots of the tremendous mounts the pro's are building.

the car mounts are some of the neatest, lots of aluminum tubing and camera mounts hanging off of cars, atv's etc.

the tripod built with 3 20+ foot ladders was too much to comprehend.
