lol... "with passion" might not make much sense on the title heheh... I mean that this needs to look real and nasty
I need to figure out how to do just a few but VERY important things. I have an idea of how they might be achieved but I need better than just an idea, I need to have this figured out to a tee so I can get what I need and we can limit the chances of not getting it as much as possible. So I start on my homework:
1. The gash
This is basically the most important effect in the middle of the climax. There will be four shots, each of them unexpected and the last two will be the real climax, but the first two set it up, then the gash brings the whole thing to a new level...
I need to make this SFX I think... it sounds like a tricky VFX project so I don't want to do without it but I might shoot clean versions in case the VFX doesn't work.
I want a limited amount of blood particles fying 'a la Rocky. But what I am most concerned with is the gash itself... if the inflicting of the wound is on at 100% I am good to go... I don't NEED 60fps slo-mo but that's how I will shoot it.
What I really NEED, is the realism of a bleeding deep cut on the face for the dramatic dialogue to follow and leading up to the tip of the climax mountain. I feel this visual will play a big role in setting the mood so I am very concerned on knowing how to do it.
I am ok with rolling with a make-up artist applying blood in frame with the talent in character so as to get those few seconds just as the make up artist clears frame. This would work perfectly as we cut to a close up of the guy's face for a closer look at the damage after seeing the other character finally go to town on him. That's the main shot... that's what I NEED.
2. The shots (2)
They will be the easy part but please feel free to tel me how you'd do it. I plan on revealing the wounds after the shot was fired and we see the victim's reaction to being shot, and that's not gonna change as it is how this story is told. Because of this I feel fairly confident in that they will be a walk in the park if I make sure and prepare like supposed to with the clothing and blood.
I was thinking of a tube to deliver the blood to a cloth patch so as to spread the blood a bit towards the bottom of the hole in the shirt instead of coming straight out of the hole... anywhay, I am sure there a re a few easy ways to do this... I didn't look into it yet but I think this will be the easier part.
The last two shots will be only covered by covering the shooter, with the gun.
