f/stop wide open

I love the bright look of many of my locations when my f/stop is wide open. I have read that the lens typically begins to lose some sharpness at their widest open and most closed apertures. If I shoot interiors wide open will I regret this? I posted this question in regard to shooting outside at night, but wasn't sure if the answer would be different with interiors.

Still-camera lenses are usually sharpest in a range about two stops down from maximum wide open, and two stops up from maximum closed.

The DVX performs pretty well at wide open, only losing about 10% total sharpness as compared to f/5.6.

The HVX does even better -- it was designed to be used wide open, so there's only about a 3% difference in sharpness between f/1.6 and f/4.0. So if you're using an HVX, have no fear and open it up all the way. With a DVX I still wouldn't even worry about it much.
