f-stop for camera when using adapter

This may have been asked many times before, but what f-stop is ideal to use on the actual camera when using a 35mm adapter? I was thinking around f2.4 on my HVX. But wondering if going open is something people do often to keep light-loss down.

You'll get a softer image with the HVX iris wide open. I try to use it around f2.8 if possible for a sharper image. Depending on what adapter your using your shutter speed will more or less adjustable. eg. LEX between 1/120th and 1/25th.

Regards,

Ben :)

Use the aperture on the HVX to balance your light needs to the camera (after you have set the aperture on the 35mm lens). Optimum is about 5.6. Never go over f8-9.6 as you loose about 30% of your resolution due to refraction.

In reality, I usually have it somewhere between wide open and f5.6, because the adaptor + lenses eat light.
