So I've been swimming 1000 Meters in 25 (or so) Minutes lately.............

And then just found out that a good time is around 8:00 to 10:00 (Or half) Minutes

WTF ? I have to cut off half my time ? HALF ?

------------------------

I've been running about a 9:00 Minute Mile (**** you. I'm 35)

Sigh............................

Might simply be technique and not strength. Have you had a swim coach or an advanced swimmer check your form? It's amazing what a little fine tuning will do.

John, looks like times to be proud of to me! Might have missed some other posts of yours regarding this, but what is the goal? Are you doing this to enter a tri- or bi-athlon, or is it for yourself? Because if the latter, who fricking cares what a "good time" is anyway??
A good time is what it is.

I'd be suprised if I could run a mile in under 10 minutes. I'm a sprinter, did the 100 and 200 for varsity track in high school.

I had to swim 1,000 meters a few months ago for SCUBA certification. I felt like my arms were going to fall off.

Good question

NO goals have been set although there is a CAMP PENDLETON MUD run coming up my brother and sister (IN LAWS) want me in

Im content with my mile (9 is fine) (( Im doing a Mile in a half in fact)

But the swimming is news.......................

I wanna do 1000 Meters in HALF!

Damn it

Okay, well, I think you're doing well. So there! ;-)
And that MUD run sounds.....messy and fun at the same time!

That looks like a blast!

...is it bad that I want to do it too?

EDIT: John, will you still be living down here in June?

Ha!
Awesome stuff!
"10K run with hills, tire obstacles, river crossings, two 5-foot walls with mud on both sides, tunnel crawl, slippery hill climb, and the final 30-foot mud pit..."

Apart from some serious clean-up afterwards, and quite possibly some sore limbs/muscles, it does look like a LOT of fun!!!

Yo TC

Nah, you can do it. I usually run a 7-8 minute mile, depite the cigs and being mumbly-mumbly years old.

I once ran a 5:45 mile.

Once.

I promised myself I would never do that again.

John, it's okay.

8 mins for 1000m would be superhuman! 10 minutes would be Olympic Standard.

Although my training has been crap for the last 6 months, before that I could do 1000m in 13-14mins - but that was with serious training everyday. 25mins is pretty respectable.

I used to just be able to break 5 mins on a mile too... think I would struggle to do it in 6 now. :(

Man Hudson, I'm gonna be out in San Diego in June. My brother is at Pendleton. Might have to come watch you run! lol
