It can be...but a lot of the time, its not positioned in the perfect spot, so you need a separate, smaller light for the eye light. But if you have the light hitting at the right angle, itll do the job.

IMHO, a nice large soft reflection in the eye is most favorable for CUs.
As MD said, sometimes you do need to add another light for eyelight.
Just be careful of too many catchlights in the eye. It can be distracting.
