Extreme mounting question

Hey guys, since this is my first 35mm adapter (well not yet, its in OR somewhere), from what I understand it either has an 82mm mounting thread for the hvx or it comes with an 82mm step up ring....now I have a UV filter on the hvx and I want to leave some sort of ring between the adapter and camera to protect camera's threads, can someone confirm all Id need would be an 82mm ring (no step up or down)? Actually now that I think about it, what would happen if I just left the UV filter on and used that "behind" the adapter and Nikon lens? Would it work or does the filter need to go in front of everything?

you can just use an empty 82mm filter ring between the adapter and camera. Remove the glass from the filter would be best as another piece of glass would add to the cameras light loss.

yeah just use a hammer and hammer the glass out. that's what i did

Don't leave that UV filter there, you'll just be unnecessarily degrading your image. Do as bwest said.

how much light does the UV filter kill? Just curious to understand how it degrades the image.

thanks, yeah i was curious about the type of degradation but even the point of light loss is a good one dont want any more of that...other than buying an extra clear filter to take a hammer to would anyone have a link to a glassless ring that size? do they come in 82-82?
