extracting frames from 24p (not adv.)

I am in the process of editing a documentary shot in 24p mode (not advanced). We will be projecting on video, but not likely to be blowing up to film. is there a way to extract frames from straight 24p footage, to make it true 24p? If so, can we send it to a post facility to do it once we are finished editing- or will this change our cut too much? Is it even worth it? The footage looks phenomenal as it is- will it really be that much better to make it worth the hassle? finally, if there is a chance at all to go to film, will we need to do it?

There is no need to do this. Unless you are going to film... which I'd probably let the post house that would do the 24fps conversion tell you how, or let them do it.

Unless it is going to film, which someone will have to foot a huge bill, it is not worth it to make it true 24p.

Chances are you'll make life miserable for yourself if you attempt to do this.(you'd use Cinema tools to do a reverse telecine-i think, to convert it to 23.98. doing this you may come across jittery footage and crossed frames, so beware).
