External Video Problem..please Help Asap!!

Ok so here's my problem I'm running FCP 4 and have my ZR40 hooked up via FW and then from my camera to a standard ntsc 4:3 tv. I've been viewing my projects on my little tv for months with no problems until recently when someone I work for needs a mini dv tape of footage. So I go to setup my ZR40 with a tape and am going to record it straight from the timeline...but the footage is all jumpy and a blue screen cuts in and out. Its fine on the computer but is jumpy on the camera and tv. But when I import footage it is fine. The project was shot in 60i and 24p(F5) and edited in a 29.97 timeline. Would that have anything to do with it, even though some other projects playback fine on the camera and tv and were shot in 24p. I'm thinking its got to be a certain setting...I've been going through settings for hours with no luck...also trashed my preferences no luck. If anyone has any advice it would very much appreciated.

There's some output problem of firewire to you camera from the sounds of it.
Try a test project and check you firewire output settings, connectors, etc.

I'm also running a fantom External HD...which I thought was the problem at first, becasue everything on the computers HD can be viewed perfectly fine on the external monitor. But then just as I thought I solved the problem after reaaranging some wires the projects from the external was viewing fine. Then I shut off the computer and tryed it again..only to see a jittery screen...
