I've used a USB as a scratch disk for a small project and it worked really well. I'm just wondering, as I move on to a bigger project, am I going to encounter problems when working with the external usb hd as a scratch? Here are the deets.

EXT 200g 7200 RPM usb
Powerbook G4 1.5 ghz
1.2 gigs of ram.

Thanks guys.

As long as you are connecting via USB 2.0, it should be fine. The Powerbook has it, I would imagine the drive does as well.
I've never used anything but firewire myself, but USB 2 should be fast enough.
Firewire 800 would be ideal, though.
As always, you should reformat the drive (back data up first) before starting a project - that way it takes longer for fragmentation to affect you.

you should also format the drive as as Apple Extended not FAT32 as it comes to you from the factory.
