Hi, I want to preview my stuff on an external monitor. How do i connect my PC to say a HDTV for an external preview of my stuff while editing? I have the standard output from a PC (VGA,firewire,s-video).

Thanks,

Check to see if you monitor can input DVI from your video card. If not then you will need to get another video card that can do HDMI out like the blackdesign intensity or possibly quadro fx card with a breakout box to output component to the monitor.

For SD work, you can go firewire out to a DV camera and then composite or S-video into your monitor.

For HD work, you can either:
A- Use a Windows secondary monitor as the preview device. Enable the "studio RGB" setting (in the preview menu, whatever it's called). I don't believe de-interlacing will work that well via this route (since you'd be stuck with Vegas' de-interlacing methods, which are mediocre).
B- Use a compatible Aja or Blackmagic card with HD-SDI out. (Check that the card + driver combination works with Vegas.)
