Other: External Power Options

Could we also bring some of the battery talk from the master forum out here? I am looking for options having never powered any thing from a single power source as I would like to do with this system...

Just about anything 12v~30v will do, honestly. I wonder if Tekkeon batteries are 12v?

You could also rig up a Sony battery plate feeding two batteries out.

And of course, there's the more expensive but more rugged V or AB mount plate. V-Mount is cheaper I believe, and the batteries can be had from China pretty darned cheap as well.

GOod thread, though, data is needed.

I'm hoping someone makes a battery grip that integrates nicely with the camera and uses replaceable batteries. I'm surprised BMD doesn't have something like this themselves...

I'd be surprised if they don't formulate something like this themselves. =P But, guys like Element Technica etc will be on the look out for sure.

FWIW, I use IDX V-Mounts with a Switronix D-Tap cable to run my Hyperdeck. I've seen the camera at NAB and the BM staff confirmed that the connector on the camera is the same as the Hyperdeck. I'm planning on using the same gear for the new camera.

The thing I love about the internal battery is that it is wired such that the internal battery continues to run the camera even if the external source is removed or drains. No more missed takes due to a brick/external battery running out! When the brick dies, just change it while you continue to run.

It's one of my favorite features of the Hyperdeck, and the new camera. I've noticed that many people are hoping for a different power system, but once you use it, I think you'll like it.
