external hard drives

[QuickSloth]

Any advice on the best external hard drives to buy?
How is Western Digital?
I am running FCP HD on a G4
I am looking for something in the 120-300Gb range
also...
Is there any advantage to using firewire instead of USB2 for editing on an external hard drive?
Everyone I know edits on firewire, but I believe USB2 is faster, no?
Thanks.

Re: external hard drives

Another editor friend of mine uses Lacie d2 triple interface 250gb drives with the firewire 800 instead of 400. He has 6 of them (one for each client) and they are all chained together. He says there is no loss in spead and they work great. He also uses a mac G4and DVX. B&H has the drives for about $250 or so.
