External Hard Drive that is compatible on Mac and PC

What is the best way to go? Most of the project files are going to start off on mac but the files need to be viewable on a pc as well. Is "Mac drive" the best program to install to ensure that the data will be viewable on both hard drives?

i just use a western digital external. its viewable on both my pc and my mac. the viewing on both also depends on file extensions as well.

Did you format the hard drive on the mac first or the pc? Also, what specs did you use to format the drive?

one of my hard drives is formatted for the pc first.

my other is formatted for the mac first.

i honestly don't know the specs off hand. i don't have anything plugged in, and don't have my hard drives with me right now.

I'm assuming your first hard drive is formatted to and usually connected to your mac and vice versa for your second hard drive.

I'm going to be using my hard drive on a mac primarily but will need to at some points view it on a pc.

Not sure if I need to format it first on a pc even though I'm going to be using it primarily on a mac.
