External Hard Drive help

I recently purchsed DVX100 and I have a laptop with no firewire, PCI, or express inputs. I was wondering if I were to buy an external hard drive and put the footage from the camera on to it, would there be a way to then transfer it to the laptop?

No. There's no way to get it off the tape without capture software, which you cannot do with a hard drive alone. You need a computer with firewire.
