External Hard Drive for Backup

[Chris Messineo]

I have a Mac and I store all my film data on a fast G-Raid external hard drive and it works great. Once a month, I back it up to a cheap external hard drive, but I need more backup space.

I am looking to get a larger (1 terabyte) external firewire 800 drive for backups only. Does anyone have any recommendations?

How about this…

It's a slightly more expensive solution, but you may be interested in the drobo enclosure.

Other than that, I'm a big fan of the LaCie external drives.

This one's coming next month and looks promising.

Costco.com has a good deal on Western Digital My Book 1 TB for $299. They even have 2TB drives now.

I've been very happy with mine.

EDIT: Oh and I HATE the "Mybook" drives, have had problems all over the place with them, bad firewire ports, failed drives, exploding power supplys.

I have also heard bad things about the mybook drives
