External Hard Drive Error

I have a G5 with 3 daisy chained Externals. The middle one won't mount and i get the error:

The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer.

I initialize and the computer sees the drive. I try to repair and i get

First Aid Failed:
Disk Utility stopped repairing “disk2s1” because the following error was encountered:

The underlying task reported failure on exit
Verify and Repair disk “disk2s1”
Checking HFS Plus volume.
Invalid B-tree node size
Volume check failed.
Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit
1 HFS volume checked
1 volume could not be repaired because of an error

I took the drive out and put into another housing (not daisy chained) and I get the exact same errors.

Any takers?

Good to know. I was really thinking it wouldn't work, since one message board I went to desrcibed the exact same error, and DW wouldn't fix it.

But it worked. Then I went and used it on my G4 (what I use for the web and stuff), which had been acting up so much that I thought I was going to have to reload the OS. Now it works great.

It seems that one of the things DW does is similar to defragging on a PC.

Data Rescue II is able to save things that DW can't, but it's for more drastic cases... it doesn't rebuild the existing disk, it lets you copy data from it to another disk. But wehn nothing else works... it's never failed me!

I should post this as a new thread, perhaps, but a warning here: the folks at Glyph told me that they've seen a startling increase in "unrecognized" drive errors with Mac OS 10.4 and above. They say that this happens specifically when the drives are not ejected before shutting the computer down. So: ALWAYS EXPLICITLY EJECT YOUR EXTERNAL DRIVES rather than just shutting down!
