ExpressCard vs Card Bus help

Hey everyone,

just wondering with the implmentation of the ExpressCard how
does this affect us when buying a new laptop for p2 usage

Is this laptop suitable?

what should i be looking for under tech specs, pc card type 1 and 2 is that ok?

Yes, the PCMCIA/PC Card Type II slot can be used to offload P2 cards.

Even if you can only get a laptop with an ExpressCard slot, you could use a Duel Systems adapter with it and offload cards that way.

Not necessarily.

The Duel Adapter works with Macs well, but not as well with all PCs and P2 media. They are tough to get to work on Dells if at all.

I'd be cautious.

Check with Duel's web site; you'll see that the adapter's work, just not with P2 media. :laugh:

i say this all the time. if all youre gonna do is do p2 offloads in the field. just get the cheapest laptop you can find.

i have an old 17" mac powerbook g4 that works great. and its even fast enough to do general p2 editing.
