Exporting

I just finished a 45 sec. clip and I'm trying to export it. What method should I use to export? MPEG-4, Quicktime conversion etc.? Another question I have is, how do I burn the 45 sec. clip to a DVD? I tried putting a blank DVD-R and dragging clips in there but it doesn't read as a DVD? What do I do? Please help.

What is the target for the clip?
You can export it to different codecs depending where you want to view (internet, desktop, etc)
You can export it as DV video and set quality to high just to play on the desktop or if you plan to go back and forth to other apss you might want to go with Animation codec.

To burn a DVD that can play like a DVD you need to use iDVD or DVD Stdio. If you just drag it in the desktop then it will just be a datafile. Readable on your computer but not playable as a Video DVD.

Start reading through your manuals and the online help.

Export a quicktime movie, make it self contained, audio & video, and if you made chapter markers on your FCP timeline then you can tell it to include them.

you can then drag this (exported) file into a drop zone on a menu page in iDVD. . .
