Exporting with the Alpha preserved

Does anyone know how to export out of After Effects and preserve the alpha channel to edit later in Vegas? Andrews Action Movie Essentials has the .mov clips with the alpha preserved. I am just not sure how to export it to accomplish this. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Click on "lossless" in the render settings, and then change millions of colors to millions of colors+

Im pretty sure thats right. You might have to change the codec/compression to "animation" if cannot click on the million colors+ option, I think it change a little in version 7.

I looked everywhere and I can't seem to find a "lossless" setting. What do you have to export it as to get to this option?

Add the composition to the render queue by either doing the ctl+m method that Steve_Arm mentioned, or you can also go to composition--->add to render queue, then you will see lossless under output module.

hope that helps.

Hmm... I tried it and it doesn't have an alpha when I move it into Vegas. Perhaps it is just a setting within Vegas, or it may just not be possible. Premiere Pro might accept it though....

Preserve Alpha out of compressor

Preserve Alpha out of compressor

I am editing greenscreen footage that is of the DVC pro72024p variety. When I export from compressor the alpha channel is not present. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Sorry wrong forum will move to FCP forum

When you take your composition to Make Movie, you would click on Lossless. That will bring up another window to choose which file type, and codec to use. Not all codecs allow for alpha channels. Here, I have shown both screens, and the highlighted portions you will need to concern yourself with. I chose Quicktime with the Animation codec, just as an example. to the right, you will see where there is a drop down menu where you pick RGB+Alpha. Then hit ok, and render it.
