i am burning to idvd and for some reason its not burning as widescreen anymore... im assuming its how im exporting it?

i am just going to file/export/quicktime movie and exporting it. When i double click the exported video it looks right, but when i drag it into idvd it stretches the video to 4:3.

i tried exporting file/export/quicktime movie and making sure the settings were dv NTSC anamorphic. Then i tried changing the settings to custom and setting the frame size to 720x404 (once clicking the anamorphic box, once not clicking the anamorphic box). both times the video looked fine when played in quicktime, but stretched back to 4:3 in idvd.

i tried 4:3 and widescreen in idvd and neither option worked. I have always set idvd as 4:3 and the video still would play as widescreen anyway so i dont know what to do.

i have not used compressor, but tried to send it there. i set it as apple/dvd/dvd best quality 90 minutes AND apple/formats/quicktime/quicktime h.264 and both these settings did the same thing as before.

i have also never used dvd studio pro, but dragged all these videos into it and burned copies that also stretched the video back to 4:3.

Does anyone know why this is happening, or a better way to export for dvd with idvd?

open the exported video from FCP in quicktime not quicktime X, if you're using Snow Leopard it is under Applications/Utilities/Quicktime Player 7.
In Quicktime choose Window then Show Movie Properties or use keyboard shortcut cmd+J
Select Video Track in the Name Column
Click the Visual Settings tab button
Uncheck Preserve Aspect Ratio
Change the Scaled Size into 853 x 480
Choose FIle then Save

Note: If you're using FCP 7 and iDVD 09 you have to set Conform Aperture to: Classic it is under Presentation Tab

Cheers!
