Exporting with chapter markers for DVD SP

I would like to export an hour of footage with chapter markers and names for a DVD studio Pro. I know I can choose "export - with chapter markers" from FCP (which takes some time) and then DVD studio Pro then has to encode to an MPG2 (which takes more time)

Is there anyway to reduce this process to one crunching time (eg: export as mpg2 from FCP thereby allowing DVD studio Pro to bypass the encoding process) ???

thanks

Use Compressor

Use Compressor

(1) Create the Chapter markers in FCP. Give them the names and all the like.

(2) Export > Using Compressor. In Compressor use the Best Quality 90 minute preset; when the Setting popup menu expandds, just use the all option. Then delete the AIFF choice. You don't need it. the Dolby audio will be fine and take up way less space. Then select the video (MPEG) entry, go over to the inspector, check the "Extras" tab, and double check to make sure "Add DVD Studio Pro meta-data" is turned on (should be by default though I believe). This will carry over your markers. Hit submit and let it do its thing.

(3) Take the Compressor MPEG and AC3 into DVD Studio Pro and create your DVD.

Even though its a poor quality compressing tool (I think might only be a one pass), DVD SP, for me, tends to be horrifically slow in doing compressions. Compressor, while not the speediest guy on the block (are third party options that can be a bit faster), is faster than DVDSP and does a hell of a better job. Anyway, that's the workflow I use for the same situation. Good luck.

cheers.
