I'm finishing up an edit on the newest version of FCP (first time working with FCP btw), and I had a few questions. It's a 90 second piece with about 14 tracks of audio. Editing on a G5. Shot on HD 720 24p with the HVX.
1) In order to make a DVD, I export it as a quicktime movie, then import that movie into iDVD, then use that to burn the DVD. Everything seems to be okay with this process IF I DON'T ADD A MUSIC TRACK. However, the second I add a music track, all hell breaks loose. Weird things like the DVD will for some reason starts 3 cuts into the piece instead of at the beginning??? Also, the letterbox will disappear in the middle of the piece?? wtf?? The last shot will be jittery and in slow motion?? I thought it might be too many tracks of audio so I exported all audio except for music into an aiff file, brought it back in, then added the music. That didn't help. Same problems. Weird. I also thought it might be a rendering problem. So I made sure everything was rendered. Is it because the song is Bon Jovi's "Pour Some Sugar On Me?" I'm running out of answers.
2) I'm thinking this might be something in the export to movie settings, so can someone help me acheive the best possible export settings for burning a dvd in general?
3) Same question but for the web. What export settings should I use? I'd probably want to see a 30MB version, a 60, and a 90, before I know exactly what quality I want. Definitely under 100MB.
4) is there an online/in-help visual display of the keyboard shortcuts somewhere? And what is the keyboard shortcut for expanding or shrinking the timeline? If I have to click to activate that one more time I'm gonna go crazy.
THANKS SO MUCH FCP GENIUSES!
