Exporting videos in Vegas Pro 9?

This is my first time using this program. I've played around with the program and looked up several tutorials on youtube on the basics of it.

I'll be using a Canon T2I/550D to shoot video with. I plan to shoot majority of my future videos/films in 1080-24P. And would like to play my videos on mainly Youtube or other video players alike. Now when I want to export the movie/video into Vegas Pro 9. I want the final cut of the video to be in 16:9 wide-screen HD with the black borders on the top and bottom. Without jeopardizing the HD quality at the end result. I really like that cinematic/pro-movie feel and effect.

I'm wondering if I'm doing this correctly. Anyone please chime-in.
Now when I go to the "Properties" "Video: template" should it be set at the "HD 1080-24p(1920x1080)" or "HDV 1080-24p(1440x1080)"? Second I click the "Event Pan/Crop" on the Timeline, then choose the 16:9 aspect ratio from drop down list. Next I know to click "Render As", and now what option do I choose under the "Save as type" and "Template"?

From there I'm stuck not sure what the next step is. Thanks, I appreciate everyone's help. I searched through old threads and archived ones. And couldn't find a definitive answer.

I see, so the 1920x1080 adds those black borders that are on the top and bottom of the video correct? Thanks again

I think I might be refering to "Letterboxing"??? If I want those black borders on the top and bottom correct? Sorry if I was being confusing.

No, 1920x1080 will have no black bars if you export as 16:9, because it IS 16:9. You only get the black bars if you crop it wider than 16:9.

So, if you want the black bars -- though you don't need them; it's already widescreen -- then you'll want to crop the top and the bottom.

I see, that answers my question then. Now does Letteboxing disrupt the quality of the video/film? Or does it depend on which aspect ratio it's being produced in? Thanks again

Letterboxing uses black pixels to make one aspect ratio fit into another.
If it's your only choice, you have to do it, but it's not ideal because:
All those black pixels are wasted.
They're not being used to show your image.

Ideally you will never have to do letterboxing. The aspect ratio of your video will
equal the aspect ratio of the displaying system. Now YouTube offers HD
if you upload 1280x720 files, so that would be the best way to go.
When you watch HD on YouTube in fullscreen mode, it looks quite good.

Adding black around the edges is not a "cinematic/pro-movie feel and effect".
It just means you have fewer pixels to show your work.
