Exporting to Web

Hi,

My footage is 720pn 25fps (PAL). I am editing using Premiere Pro 2.0. I want to export the footage to upload to the web e.g. You Tube & Google Video. The exported footage always looks pretty good on my machine, but by the time I have uploaded it to You Tube and they have finished compressing it, it always looks terrible. Heavily compressed, lots of artifacts and very blocky.

Other footage on You Tube looks way better than mine. I have tried exporting to MOV and WMV (HD & SD resolutions) but the end result is always poor.

Any ideas please?

I've never seen any good compression on those sites, but out of Premiere, WMV is your best bet because the Adobe Media Encoder doesn't do quicktime .mov very well. Those sites will always recompress your footage, so if it looks good going in, you've done all you can do.

The trick is to export Vide QuickTime uncompressed, QuickTime Animation, and then open the movie with Quick Time pro, and the you export it to H.264+AAC,
that will give you the highest possible youtube quality. Forget about WMV, youtube is only good with Quicktime movies.
