Exporting to Quicktime...

What compressor do people use when exporting to Quicktime in Premiere Pro 2? I've been using Planar RGB and my files are HUGE. I just created a 1:52 movie that was 2.26 Gigs...that seems big to me.

I'm exporting to AVI for now, but I'd prefer Quicktime...any thoughts on what compressor/other settings to use?

Thanks.
Andrew

Don't use Premiere. Export out to Microsoft Avi with compressor "none" and use Quicktime Pro to reencode it to h.264 quicktime. Keep the bitrate to 1500 kbits amd the result should be good.

Keep in mind, though, that h.264 files won't be viewable on systems running Windows ME -- at least, I can't view them on mine.

h.264 files use a different set of codecs so i think that might be the problem there, because i have the same problem at uni when i compress files using h.264. A good codec pack that has most codecs is the combined community codec pack found here: http://www.cccp-project.net/

if your just exporting SD i would use the matrox DV 50 codec. or if your using HD you can use the AVid DV100 codec. or raylight AVI. pretty soon youll be able to export right back to .mxf though for any HVX footage using CS3. the update is due out next month.

I've been using the adobe media encoder for quicktime files- h.264 codec. I recently bought Quicktime pro (for a mere $30), and the results are much better. The files look and sound better, and the bitrate is lower! Definitely worth it.
