I recently shot a long take project for my film production class. the long take is in HDV @ 24fps at 16:9 aspect ratio. I'm trying to export to mp4 because I have to bring in a DVD to screen in front of the class, and the classroom computers are windows based PCs. I'm having an issue where the final exported versions in mp4 are in standard 4:3 aspect ratio, and I seemingly can't correct it. I tried clicking the preserve aspect ratio through letterbox option and all it did was add black bars to the sides of my film that give it the widescreen aspect ration but the image itself is still in 4:3 somehow.
on a side note, all the exports I ran of the film to quicktime (.mov) are absolutely fine in terms of quality and aspect ratio. there is a chance the classroom computers have quicktime, but I don't want to bank on that and then not be able to screen my film because they don't have it.
can anyone give me some tips on getting the aspect ratio right when exporting to mp4?
