Exporting to After Effects

I'm a new after effects user, and I was wondering what the best way for me to export sd footage into after effects is. Is exporting a quicktime reference ok, or should I export a tiff sequence? Or is it better to use a quicktime reference while doing all of the effects, and then before you do the final output, relink a higher resolution clip in place of that quicktime reference.

If you're importing raw dv footage, just use the quicktime reference - it's the cleanest, highest quality way because you're not recompressing the footage. Exporting raw dv footage as uncompressed to use in after effects won't give you extra quality.
