I just started this new job, been here for almost a week so far.
The job requires me to cut up the already aired 1 hour broadcasts, into their individual product segments, export them so they can then go up on the website for consumers to view
Cutting is pretty simple, takes me roughly 30-45 mins to cut one hour.
The only problem is, i'm cutting faster then what the exporter can export. i just finished the 11:00 am broadcast like an hr ago, but the exporter is still working on the 9:00am broadcast. (how it works is this, say the 9:00am broadcast is airing, by 10:00, it's ready to cut).
Each segment is roughly 5 mins, but takes roughly 10 mins to export each (some segments are longer, hence longer export time).
I'm using Premiere cs4 and the media encoder here at work.
Comp specs are:
Intel Dual E2200 @ 2.20ghz
3GB ram
XP pro
2x 40gb internal drives
The issue is mainly the broadcast segments need to be up on the website asap. I've already told them, theres not much i can do with export time, but i said i'll see if theres any other options, and thats why i'm here asking you guys.
Anyway to make the export faster?
Source file (broadcast hour) is quicktime format (not sure what codec) 640x480
Export settings we're using right now is : Video - Quicktime w/mpeg codec, 24fps progressive, audio - aac, 32mhz, mono.
The whole process is to export in that settings, then move those files to a specific server and the program in there finds those named clips, grabs them, converts them into FLV and puts them up on the site.
I can already say i can't bypass that last step, and just manually export FLV from premiere...the process and pipeline to the site doesn't work like that. Which sucks, as that would make it ALOT easier and faster. so i have to work around it.
Hope i said as much info as i can....i can't say where i work though.
Thanks, any help is appreciated.
